The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities is Hiring a New Meteorologist

The National Weather Service is expanding its team of meteorologists and is hiring new members in the Twin Cities area. The new meteorologist, Dan McLaughlin, has served as Science and Operations Officer for the Nashville, Tennessee NWS since 2017. He previously served as a forecaster in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and Wilmington, Ohio. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Missouri.

The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities is warning residents and businesses to expect “brief and isolated” snow showers that are spreading from central Minnesota. These storms will bring gusty winds up to 30 mph and may cause visibility to drop to half a mile at times. The snow could cause short delays on the evening commute. Fortunately, there is still time to prepare. The National Weather Service Twin Cities is offering a 7-day forecast that will be helpful for people and businesses in the area.

While the storms will weaken throughout the evening, they will still bring damaging winds, hail and heavy rain. A wall cloud was also photographed by the National Weather Service Twin Cities. The severe weather warning is in effect for Faribault County, Anoka, Chisago, Ramsey and Washington counties in Minnesota. The tornado warning has also been extended through 9 p.m. This will keep people safe through the night. If the severe weather continues into the night, there is a chance for severe storms in some areas.
